Your vision was slurred. Voice broken. Body limp. Your life flashed before you in an instant. A boy with black hair that was combed back revealing his forehead. A bouquet of red flowers, roses?

“Will I ever see them again?” you mumbled silently.

“(Name), please. You must promise me, that you’ll return home.”

That unfamiliar voice sounded pained and broken. However, it did sound somewhat familiar.

“Come back...villag--”

Slowly, the voice rung loud and clear in your head. It was your...

“Mothe--”

SPLASH!

“Gahh--!” you shrieked as you prostrated yourself on your bed. You were soaked in cold water. “Ahhhh, so cold.”

Looking up you saw your older brother with a bucket in between his hands. He looked unfazed as usual, with that smug look, dim but deadly eyes, short posture and short hair on his sides but long hair towards the top of his head.

“Older brother!?” you screamed, enraged by his intrusion of yet another one of your dreams.

“You were dreaming again, were you not?” he started. “And don’t call me that when we’re in public. Address me by my proper name, (Name). Geez, you’re fourteen now so drop the formal titles will you?”

“Fine, Levi...older brother,” you said with a giggle.

“What was that?” he said, a tad bit annoyed.

“Nothing,” you replied. “Where’s mother and father?”

“Erwin is preparing for an expedition beyond the walls, and Hanji is doing some research,” Levi answered back. “In the meantime, take your medicine and prepare yourself. You start in the 104th trainee squad from today.”

Your eyes widened with excitement and complete glee, “Yes! I’ve been waiting for this day. Father always told me how he’ll love to have me by his side in 3 years time!”

Levi didn’t answer back but instead handed you your daily medicine. You had a habit of recalling weird events of your past via dreams ever since they found you. They adopted you and decided to be your family. Erwin your father, Hanji your mother, Levi your older brother and Mike, Petra, Auruo, Gunther and Erd as your uncles and aunties. One could almost say you were born into the most prestigious and strongest family. And you believed that they were your mutual family, even stating that you loved them dearly. Although they told you you were adopted, you still loved them like your mutual family.

Taking your medicine, you put on your uniform, packed your bags with your clothes and meds and was about to trudge out the door when...

“(Naaaaameee)!~~” your mother Hanji bursted through the door and latched her arms around you. “Gosh why are you so tall?!”

You were tall. 176cm in height was by far abnormal for a 14 year old girl.

“Hahaha, and I’m still growing too!” you said. “Must get the genes from father.”

“Anyways, I just wanted to wish you luck for the upcoming years. I’m so proud of my (Name),” she said, tears beginning to well up in her eyes. “Levi has trained you well. Now go and kick some ass! And make some friends while you’re at it. Don’t be like your anti-social older brother Levi here okay?”

“Hahaha will try and do mother!” you shouted back. You saw her pat Levi on the back, resulting in her running away as he chased her back to HQ.

True, Levi did teach you well but it was only in hand to hand combat. Levi being humanity’s strongest soldier, you would’ve ranked second if you were qualified. In order to learn the proper mechanics of the 3 dimensional maneuver gear, you had to learn the basics, and that was something Levi and the others couldn’t teach you as they focused on advancing the basic 3DMG skills taught in the 3 years within the trainee corps. This was the reason why you had to join the 104th trainee squad, to grasp the basics.

Waving goodbye, you departed from your house which happened to be the HQ of the survey corps.

~Time Skip~

There you stood, amongst the myriads of wimps and dopes, with your right fist clenched tightly at your pounding heart and your left arm folded behind your back. Looking around you saw all the girls. They were short in comparison to you. Except for a freckle faced girl who seemed to be above 1.7m but still was shorter than you. You could feel eyes on you as Instructor Keith Shadis walked and stood in front of you, after ramming his head into a muffin top and yelling out at him for having the most stupidest reason for joining the Military Police and telling the freckle faced boy beside him that the king didn’t desire his body. You couldn’t help but laugh inside and this made you twitch your body on the exterior. Shooting you a mild glare of confusion he opened his mouth and said, “Why are you even here?”

He knew who you were. All the instructors did because your mother Hanji wouldn’t shut up bragging about how you were trained by Levi. However, they were forced to keep quiet so as not to instill fear in other trainees when it came to hand on hand combat against you.

“I’m here to qualify myself for the Survey Corps, sir!” you replied. Then you added, “There are still areas in which I need your assistance, SIR! For that is the reason why I’m here, sir.”

Jumping slightly at your reason he said, “Very well, then. All the best, (Name).”

Even though he had finished with you, eyes were still on you. Was there something on your face? Were you too tall? Although there was one boy who was taller, preferably in the 1.9m range.

Letting out a loud sigh you finally spoke up in an audible yet irritated tone, “What, is it?”
Seeing at how annoyed you were, the eyes of the trainees readjusted as they looked elsewhere. But one pair in particular was still locked onto you. As the wind blew, your (h/c) locks danced rhythmically in it. You had to grab onto it for fear it would have whipped the person next to you in the face. Calming it down, you looked around to see if anyone saw your embarrassed act and you locked your eyes to the pair of golden ones across the field.

“Ah, I get it now,” you began. Perhaps the reason why you were the center of attention was because of your blood red eyes. You cussed, “Sheesh, I’m not a vampire dammit.” This snapped him out of his trance as he heard what you just said. Realizing this, you mouthed an apology seeing how you were the formally polite type. Although you couldn’t understand yourself why you had red eyes. Were you some sort of rare child? Tossing the speculation aside the commander had dismissed the trainees for the day’s orientation. By this time you were hungry and you felt sorry for the girl who had to run till she dropped dead. “Sasha Blaus, was it?” you mused to yourself.

Making your way to the mess hall, head ducked down as you continued thinking to yourself about tomorrow’s agenda you collided with something, someone that felt like a thick old oak tree.

“Ouch!” you squealed. It felt like you broke your nose over this object. “Oww, what on eart--”

“Shit, sorry!” the tall and thick object who happened to be the male who stared at you during orientation, turned and said. “Didn’t mean to get in your wa--”

“Oh no no!” you cut him off. “My apologies for not looking straight ahead.” You smiled and walked around him, hand rubbing your nose. “Ow, what’s he made of?”

As you sat down with your tray of dinner in hand, you noticed that 1) you were alone and 2) everyone was looking at you while they ate and talked. This made you feel extremely uncomfortable. So you decided to scoff down your dinner at record speed, ignoring the ruckus between the muffin top, whose name you figured was Jean Kirstein and a shorter boy from Zhiganshina named Eren Jaeger. After Eren and his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman left the mess hall, all eyes were back on you.

“Ughhh,” you internally screamed. “How irritating!”

That was when that figure in which you collided with sat opposite of you, blocking you from the others sight and vice versa. You mentally thanked him for doing so but was saddened by the fact that you had finished your dinner and had to leave. “Couldn’t he have appeared earlier?” you questioned in your head. “Oh well, time to rest up for tomorrow.”

He opened his mouth, and just before he began, you stood up, offered him thanks and discarded your dirty dishes on the way out. Turning around to look at you leave, the male was saddened as he lost the opportunity to get your name.

“Reiner,” his tall friend called as he sat besides him. “Did, did you manage to get her name?”

“Oh, hey Bertholdt,” he replied. “Nah...”

“She’s, not normal,” added a short blonde girl who sat next to Bertholdt.

“How would you know, Annie?” Reiner challenged.

There was silence after that.

That night you slept soundly. Although you couldn’t get the image of that boy out of your mind. You ended up dreaming again as a result of your speculating about seeing him from somewhere.

Hello world. This is my first time submitting. I'm not that good either so please bear with me. Anyways, I'm in love with the series and I find Reiner adorably attractive so I had to write a fully fledge novel for Reader ちゃん and himself.

Sincerely,

Atashi
